Former deputy finance minister Jabu Moleketi has been appointed chairman of Gauteng Premier David Makhura’s new economic advisory panel in a bid to help revitalise the provincial economy. Makhura announced the 14-member team, made up of economic experts, entrepreneurs and labour representatives, during his state of the province address in Randfontein, west of Johannesburg, on Monday. The team would ensure that all economic and infrastructure plans were implemented with "rigour and the required discipline", he said. "The panel will advise the premier and the Gauteng provincial government on implementing strategies to realise our objectives of increasing employment, empowerment, exports and inclusive growth in line with the vision set out in the National Development Plan and our provincial economic plan."
