Property is one of the favourite avenues for investors as many prefer making investments backed by real brick-and-mortar assets. At the same time, most households’ largest investment is in the family home, which channels large amounts of money into a single asset. Furthermore, if people invest in individual properties to rent out and generate an income, their investment is not all that diversified – the loss of even one good tenant can damage the entire portfolio. Another concern is that individual properties are not very liquid. Making a speedy sale often means accepting an offer below market prices.
